My fellow Probian
You, a retired professional man
are joining us of your own free will.
You have been chosen and are highly regarded by all.
Do not abandon old friendships
for the sake of new friendships made in Probus.
Out of friendship, without any preconceived idea of service
you are committing yourself to being faithful to your club
and attend its meetings regularly.
You, who have nothing to prove,
are a member not because of your wordly goods.
Listen attentively to your fellow members
and behave without airs and graces when you speak.
Appreciate and reciprocate the fellowship
and friendliness received from your fellow members.
Be prepared to accept criticism from your fellow members
because they are your friends.
Accept that others are different:
you will benefit from your tolerance.
Above all, your motto should be:
Be yourself without pretention
